Miss M and Sweet Baby D

So, here I am!  I have been having a fantastic time with my camera lately.  I have the best neighbors who let me photograph their adorable nine month old twins.  Miss M and Sweet Baby D are so sweet and fun and not to mention ADORABLE!!  We had such a fun time with this shoot.  I'm learning a lot!  Nine month old babies do NOT sit still and "pose" for the camera!  LOL!  Hope you enjoy these pics as much as I enjoyed taking them!

So here goes...

Well, here we go!  I am entering the world of blogging.  A little late I know, but late is better than never right!?  That actually seems to be a theme to my life as of the last year.  Having added our third little girl to the mix last July 1st my life seems to be a constant whirlwind!  So with that being said I will introduce my three sweet little girls.  Abigail Grace was the first to bless us with her presence.  She is such a joy.  She is very tender and sweet with a dash of stubborn.  I can not believe sometimes that she is only 5 as she can be such a little grown-up.  Then in December of 2009 we welcomed our Sophia Faith.  What a spitfire!  Two children could not be more different.  Sophie is very strong willed and has personality plus!  She will definitely be the class clown and keeps us in stitches on a daily basis.  So after having two such perfect little ladies we decided our family was complete.  Well, God had another plan for us.  Josephine Hope entered our world on a beautiful, sunny morning in July of 2011.  Her entrance to the world was very bittersweet.  Her daddy was in Afghanistan, serving our country, with the Alaska Air National Guard, when Josie arrived.  I knew Scott would be gone when she came but she came even earlier than we expected.  FOUR WEEKS EARLY(btw, that was the last time we were early for anything!)!! Knowing she was going to be our last I wanted to remember everything in detail and was overcome by so many emotions.  The hardest part was her daddy not being there to witness the birth of his last baby girl.  Four hours later and many phone calls to the desert (it's really hard to contact someone in a combat zone, on an airplane, in a 12.5 hour time difference!) I finally was able to tell him the big news.  Even though Scott was not here, I had the most amazing support present for Josie's birth.  My mom and niece/best friend Traci came to my aid.  After some arguing over contractions and driving and a cancelled colonoscopy (for mom, not me!) mom drove us to the hospital.  Traci had been working nights as a MA and had to leave work a little early to come and hold my hand and take some pictures!  Did I tell you this whole thing started at 3am.  I was scheduled for a c-section but baby had other plans and got things going early (again, this is the last sign of early from this family).    So anyways, back to Josephie/Josie/JoJo.  She is the perfect addition to our family.  She is much like Sophie and I see the two of them going many rounds!  She is very silly and has definite opinions on how things should be and what she does and DOES NOT want.  Out of all of our girls she also looks the most like one of her parents, her daddy!  From the very beginning she has looked so much like Scott (in a cute girly way).  Abby is a perfect combination of both of us and Sophie tends to favor me.

So, after all that introducing, I'll tell you a little about why I am starting this blog.

Reason #1  After moving over 4000 miles from home in Alaska, I wanted to have a way to share my life and our life stories and photographs with those we love  that are so far away.  I also want to remember this amazing journey that we are on.

Reason #2  I LOVE PHOTOGRAPHY!   And, in a nutshell, I am starting my own business.  Hence the name Courtney Dickerson Photography.  I spent many hours going over and over what I should name my business and this is what I came up with.  Catchy isn't it!  LOL!!  Almost a year ago I happened upon a wonderful photographer, Amy Earl, of Simply b Photography.  I took a workshop from her and have been hooked ever since.   But to say this is when my "passion" started would be a lie.  It started way back in high school.  I took a photography class and fell in love.  A lot has changed since then and so have I.  Now I am taking my passion to another level and photographing people other than my family.  I'll be the first to admit that I am still in the very beginning stages and have a lot to learn.

I hope that you will follow me on my journey, thru my ups and downs and share in my passion and my life.

I'll leave you with this today.  Father's Day.  2012
